2011-11-21  I have a friend Danny Summerlin that makes a few knives with a square wheel grinder. He wants to try using a 10 inch wheel instead of the 8 on his grinder. He is looking for a good used 10 inch wheel for a square wheel grinder with the bearing and all.

2019-4-3  Yes wooden that has been balanced with a 1/4 inch hard rubber coating. That is my main grinder for hollow grinding. I have a double disc grinder to flatten that is homebuilt. My Square Wheel is 27 years old. I also have a Jerry Braggs 10 inch that was built in the 70s with a 3 groove pulley. I leave it running about 800 RPM.

2015-2-8  I have small wheels from 1/4 inch to 2 inches and contact wheels from 3 inches to 14 inches skipping the 12 inch sand the four inch wheel. I like the 8 inch rubber smooth contact wheel made by Beaumont Metal Works for their KMG grinders best. 2010-6-12  I rough grind on a 24 inch wheel on a machine I built with flood coolant and a fixture to hold the blade, cant do curves though. The wheel has worn down to about 18 inches, I got a replacement off eBay recently. After heat treat I finish on the 2 X72 with a curved platten (freehand). It works well, I like the looks of the shallow hollow grind.
